It delivers nearly 5W into 32 ohms through either the ¼” TRS or 4-pin XLR connectors with near state-of-the-art measurements. Halo or no, Midgard is completely over the top in terms of value and performance. We’ll also go further: if you have an acoustic measurement rig and want to publish your results (positive or negative, we don’t care), contact us and we’ll get you a Midgard to measure. Compare to the front panel TRS, which doesn’t have Halo, because Halo requires separate ground returns. ![]() Want to try Halo? Plug in to the front panel XLR. However, since confirming that would require years of research and still have everyone arguing about it, we decided to do something crazy: introduce this amp at a great price and let you decide. Introducing Halo: Breakthrough or Illusion? Halo is a mixed-mode feedback topology that incorporates your headphone driver into the feedback loop, offering the potential for better control at driver resonance and improved acoustic results. Midgard’s new Halo™ topology also offers the potential for higher performance where it matters-at your ears. Just do your wiring right and match your ohms.Midgard is simply the best measuring, highest power discrete headphone amp we’ve ever made. In the summer I just turn my Ac on and it's fine, Great great amp. This is not for powering subwoofers!!!! It's 4 channel, meant for 4 speakers, that are lower rms like door speakers! Make sure there 2 ohms or you'll have problems, I have it under my seat currently til I mount it, and it's never overheated and I only listen to my music loud enough to feel the mids bump in my chest. If your running 2 ohms to each channel it'll work like a champ. If you tuned this right to your music and speakers and get your ground and power lines good this guy is absolutely amazing. I knew it could push hard if it had the watts it says it did it's a pretty hefty amp. I used 8 gauge awg for power and ground and some decent RCAs and I had a lot of issues with it going into protection mood at a higher volume. At first I had some hiccups but I hadn't tuned it to my liking. I'm using the 1600 watt 4-chan to power 4 door speakers, all kickers 300 watt Max. It has exceeded my expectations and performs better than my friends kicker amp even. I give it 3 stars because it does a decent job for its price. And the other thing that ticked me off was the positive terminal screw for Ch 2 was completely stripped out. This means too many lows are making there way into the components, which can cause distortion with too much gain or too loud volume. Not much audible difference between full and high. The LPF works excellent for the subwoofer and just a touch of bass boost (1/4) turn gives the sub enough kick to fill out the music. I don't think this amp is pushing anywhere close to its rated power. I have the gain on 1-2 set half way and for the sub slightly less. It supplies enough power to listen at moderate volumes, but you'll need to carefully set the gain to match your receiver so you don't blow your speakers from distortion, and not from too much power, but the opposite, not enough power. I'm running an Infinity PR6500cs component set on Ch1-2 and a Pioneer TSSWX2502 10" sub on 3-4 bridged. WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm - So far, this has been an amp (TRQ4.800) worth it's price, but don't kid yourself into thinking that it is going to be spectacular or great. ![]() The warning is part of our ongoing effort to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as "Proposition 65"). Why do you see the warning on our packaging and website? Proposition 65 warnings can be seen for a wide variety of everyday consumer products, including electronic equipment, and warnings can be seen posted throughout California in a variety of establishments such as buildings, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. The list includes naturally occurring and man-made chemicals. There are over 800 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, which is administered by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. Businesses are required to provide warnings to comply with Proposition 65. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law, but rather a "right-to-know" law. Proposition 65’s warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. Proposition 65 requires warnings if a product contains any listed chemical present above very low levels. Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to companies selling products in California.

That's just asking for trouble.” “It's either going to be startled and bioluminescent when it's in your belly because it's freaking out, or as you digest it, those chemicals are going to release and start bioluminescing,” says Osborn. As adults, once the threadfin dragonfish grow to over a foot long, they don’t have so much to hide from-they’re higher up the food chain.Īnd get this: The researchers found some species had ultra-black gut linings, likely to keep them from glowing like lanterns when they eat bioluminescent prey. Why? Because tiny, defenseless babies need to hide from predators. Interestingly, one of the species, the threadfin dragonfish, is only ultra-black as a juvenile. But the species are using their ultra-blackness for diverse purposes, either as the prey hiding themselves from hunters, or as the hunters hiding themselves from prey. The skin of all of these fishes is specifically tuned to absorb blue and green light, which are the colors of the majority of bioluminescence in the deep. So there's these little, little differences in how they've actually accomplished this between the different species.” Some of them have really thick layers, some of them have thinner layers. “Some of them have three layers, some of them have two layers. “Some of them have just a big jumble,” says Osborn. The species evolved it independently, so they have slightly different ways of going about absorbing light their melanosomes are arranged differently in the skin. ![]() Incredibly, there wasn’t one common ancestor of these 16 Vantafish species-or at least the 16 that Osborn and Davis have discovered so far-that evolved this trick and passed it along to its evolutionary descendants. “Once it comes in, it bounces around between all of those little balls and doesn't come back out.” “It's kind of like a gumball machine, where all of the gumballs inside are the right size and shape to trap light within the machine,” adds Davis. “And so what they've done is create this super-efficient, very-little-material system where they can basically build a light trap with just the pigment particles and nothing else.” “But what isn't absorbed side-scatters into the layer, and it's absorbed by the neighboring pigments that are all packed right up close to it,” says Osborn. When you shine a light on a fangtooth or its peers, the melanosomes absorb most of the photons right away. Tons of melanin alone, though, couldn’t make these fish rival the darkness of Vantablack. The skin of these fishes is positively packed with a layer of organelles called melanosomes, themselves loaded with melanin. So how do these 16 species of ultra-black fish camouflage themselves so well? It’s all about melanin, the same stuff that gives us humans our skin coloration. “How is it that I can shine two strobe lights at them and all that light just disappears?”įrom an invisible gecko to a blorpie fish, these atypical animals are a testament to natural selection. “I had tried to take pictures of deep-sea fish before and got nothing but these really horrible pictures, where you can't see any detail,” she says.
